Temple and Kecak
We journeyed from Padang Padang to Uluwatu in good time, and paid our entrance fee to the temple, only to be accosted by a "guide" who would not take no for an answer. We were well equipped to deal with any monkey he was supposedly protecting us from and wanted to take our time going through the temple on our way to the kecak dance. However this person was much more annoying than any monkeys, and in the end we paid him $10 to get rid of him. Tourists beware!
Any temple access is out of the question for wheelchairs, but the kecak dance is on flat ground accessed from the ramp to the car park. There is tiered seating, but we sat at the bottom.
It is an entertaining spectacle, and the fire walking at the end is always a bit close for comfort, but you don't have to sit at the front.
We left there at 7pm, right after sunset, and collapsed early into bed after tea at the resort Sports Bar. There was supposed to be karaoke on, but we missed it thank goodness. I slept well, having finally beaten my earache.
